Beaujolais Nouveau 2026, Amsterdam edition

In November, somewhere between Halloween and Sinterklaas, a French tradition arrives every third Thursday: Beaujolais Nouveau. It is a wine made from the Gamay grape, released a few weeks after the harvest.

In 2026, Beaujolais harvested its Gamay on 13 August, while half of Amsterdam was still suffering the summer heat. So this year, Beaujolais Nouveau is literally a summer wine, released in the Dutch November rain. It is juicy, full of fruit, and with real structure. A summer wine arrives in Amsterdam and elsewhere on Thursday 19 November.
